Frequently Asked Dental Questions
How often do I need to visit Dr. Walker’s dental office?
We recommend patients visit us at least two times each year. These preventive checkups allow us the opportunity to carefully examine patients’ smiles for signs of common oral health concerns, and partner with patients to keep their smiles whole and healthy.
Should I get a fixed or removable bridge?
We offer fixed and removable bridges to replace one or several consecutive missing teeth. Both solutions restore the form and function of smiles, but they achieve this goal through different means. Dr. Walker will examine your smile and partner with you to create a personalized treatment plan just for you. Every patient is different, so we’ll walk you through the pros and cons of each prior to beginning treatment.
How often should I replace my dentures?
Dentures wear out at different rates, but typically, you’ll need to replace a partial or full fixed or removable denture every seven to ten years. This is in addition to regular maintenance performed by Dr. Walker during six month dental checkups.
What are dental implants?
Dental implants are metal posts implanted below the gum line in order to support dental crowns, bridges, and dentures, replacing teeth and mimicking the natural structure of tooth roots.
Does teeth whitening work?
Over the counter whitening kits promise dramatic transformations, but they don’t often keep up their end of the bargain. Professional whitening treatments from Dr. Walker combine customized doses of active whitening agents with more precise application methods to create smiles up to ten shades brighter.
Who should consider porcelain veneers?
Any patient who has chips, cracks, stains, gaps, or other cosmetic flaws they wish to conceal should consider porcelain veneers. Veneers are thin sheaths of custom crafted porcelain that attach to the fronts of teeth to conceal any number of smile flaws with one treatment.
Do you take my insurance?
We are always happy to review your dental insurance policy with you as well as process and file claims for most insurance plans. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to talk to one of our knowledgeable team members.
